One-car rollover takes young life in Sunday morning accident On Sunday morning, September 17, the Meschke family endured a tragedy that every family prays never happens - they lost a member of the family prematurely in a vehicle accident. Just before 9 a.m., the family's four-door pickup occupying all five of the Meschke's lost control upon entering S.H. 6, went into the grass median and rolled over; the Meschke's 11-year-old daughter, Taylor, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to Chief of Police Shawn Myatt. Chief added that Alvin Meschke, Taylor's father, was driving when the accident occurred and Kimberly was passenger, with all three children, teen-ager Garrett and twins Taylor and Kaitlin, in the back seat. The accident happened just across from Thompson Country Ford. “The accident is still under investigation, but we believe the wet roadway played a factor in this,” said Chief Myatt. “It had rained that morning and the on-ramp onto S.H. 6 was probably very slick.” Kimberly and Kaitlin were transported by ambulance and Garrett was transported by helicopter to The Med in College Station, according to police. They were all released later that day. Alvin had minor injuries but refused to be transported to the hospital, Chief said. Taylor Aubrie Meschke's funeral will be 10 a.m. Thursday, September 21 at First Baptist Church of Navasota, 301 Church Street, Rev. Craig Sanders officiating. She will be buried at Oakland Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. today at Nobles Funeral Chapel, with family present from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. A fund has been established at the Bank of Navasota.
