Dortania Remarque Jones a.k.a. “Brudis” of Navasota, 36, was arrested without incident for alleged sexual assault of a child and indecency with a child by sexual contact on Monday, Aug. 30.

Prior to his arrest, Jones was indicted for the same charges under the direction of the Washington County District Attorney’s Office, according to Brenham Police CID Sgt. Daniel Gaskamp.

Sgt. Gaskamp said the 14-year-old female victim made the outcry to her mother, who reported the alleged incidents to Brenham police.

Jones served as a volunteer praise team member at the Country Hill Tabernacle of Praise in Navasota, where the alleged victim and her mother attended.

Each second-degree felony charge carries a possible sentence of 2-20 years in prison and a fine of up to $10,000.
