With several players unable to play due to S.A.T. testing, Navasota was an underdog to win the Brookshire-Royal Tournament, but grit and determination willed Navasota to a tournament win.

The Rattlers edged out a 52-51 win over 5A Victoria West to kick off the tournament. Later that day, Navasota fell to 6A Aldine 55-48.

Navasota bounced back to knock off Booker T. Washington twice 77-62, and in the championship 64-59.

Navasota also took down host team Royal, 59-47 to make it to the championship.

"The young men who played showed lots of heart and determination during the tournament. We leaned on our inside presence this weekend. Willie Spriggs and Tyrin Preston were huge for us,” stated Navasota Head Coach Quentin Morgan. “Point guard Ke'Eric Moore controlled the tempo all weekend and Ronnie Jackson made huge plays when needed the most. Keaun Eddings was the leading scorer off the bench and provided solid play down the stretch. This team has a drive and desire to get better each week.  I believe this is a special group and the sky is the limit for them."

Navasota defeated 5A Waller on Monday 66-49.

The Rattlers will be back on the road Friday, as they travel to take on the rival Brenham Cubs at 6:30 p.m. Navasota will play Hitchcock at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday.
