The Bedias Civic Club is getting ready to celebrate Christmas in Bedias in a big way. Everything is set for Saturday, Dec. 18, starting with Breakfast with Santa at the Civic Center, 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. Pancake Breakfast, then a Gingerbread House Contest also at the Civic Center at 10:30 a.m. Next is the Bedias Christmas Parade starting at 6 p.m., followed by Cookies with Santa back at the Civic Center at 7 p.m. Please go to the Civic Club Facebook page, www.facebook.com/BediasCivicClubAssoc, for all the updates.
Read moreThere was record attendance at Evergreen Baptist Church Sunday morning, Nov. 21. There were 125 people present. The church had a wonderful service. The church youth sang, and Ava Reynolds was baptized. The pastor of the church brought a wonderful message as well. Following the service there was a Thanksgiving meal that was enjoyed by all. There were several that took home food for a meal to be enjoyed later. I was one of those. The turkey, ham, dressing, desserts and more were good.

Read moreFall sports are underway for Richards ISD, with Junior High boys’ and girls’ basketball kicking off their first home game this week against North Zulch, both teams play Dec. 6 at Roundtop Carmine and Dec. 13 at Fayetteville. If you plan on attending home games, be sure to bring some cash to spend on concessions. The concession stands sales fund a lot of the extra activities for our athletes. Be sure to ask about volunteer spots too - Richards PTO needs help with workers for upcoming home games.

Read moreThe annual Bruce Family Reunion was held at the Keith Community Center Sunday, Nov. 7, with a good number of family members attending. Approximately 40 attended. It is estimated this is the 33rd family reunion and is the reunion of the descendants of Melva and Edna Bruce Family. The only one of their children still living is Cora Bruce Lucan. The family began gathering around 11 a.m. and stayed until 3 p.m. All had a wonderful time and are making plans to return next year.
