Spring children’s attire from Paris Pink & Cowboy Blue Baby Boutique and Railroad Junction Children’s Boutique were displayed by local children making their modeling debuts. Both businesses are located in historic downtown Navasota. Proceeds benefitted Grimes County Animal Rescue.

Read moreNavasota High School senior, Daana Mena, was awarded a $105,000 scholarship by the U.S. Army ROTC. Mena will attend Texas A&M University as a proud member of the Fightin' Texas Aggie Corps of Cadets. Following graduation from TAMU, she will enter the U.S. Army as an officer. Her scholarship includes full tuition for 4 years, room and board, a $420/month stipend, and $1,500/year for textbooks. A celebration was held March 30.

Read moreGrimes County Animal Rescue celebrated its grand opening and ribbon cutting Sunday, April 2, and officially opened April 3. The shelter originated as a service project by Kristen Keally Carroll for the Texas FFA Ford Leadership Scholars Program. Throughout the years and multiple fundraising events, the dream has come to fruition. Carroll thanked the community for their support constructing a facility to help tackle the stray animal problem in Grimes County. The shelter is located next to the Grimes County Business and Justice Center.
