Navasota Mayor Bert Miller signed a proclamation recognizing Ellwood Texas Forge Navasota’s 50th anniversary. The company, originally founded in 1972, employs 225 workers and ships products worldwide for all types of uses, including military, automotive, maritime, aerospace, construction oil and gas, mining and others. A guaranteed payout for the three-meat cookoff is $6,000. Top-10 finishers will receive cash prizes. Entry for three meats is $200. There will also be a bean division and an open division (no desserts). Entry for each is $25.

The City of Navasota achieved its goal of saving the youth soccer program. Grimes County Youth Soccer Association announced the 2022 soccer season was being canceled, but The City stepped in, and with the help from staff and volunteers, the season kicked-off Saturday, Sept. 24.

Read moreBEDIAS - A suspected trespasser was hospitalized while trying to elude officers Friday afternoon, Sept. 23. According to Grimes County Sheriff’s Office at approximately 4:21 p.m., a call was received stating Patrick Michael Howley, age 21, was trespassing. Howley reportedly had a trespass warning in place at that location.
Read moreNavasota Police are investigating a Sunday afternoon shooting on West Virginia Street in Navasota. At approximately 12:20 p.m., officers were notified of shots fired at the 700 block of West Virginia Street. Officers arrived within minutes and three males were immediately detained. A portion of the roadway was closed while an investigation was conducted.
