Read moreThree Grimes County softball players advanced to the Houston Astros Team Championship portion of the MLB Pitch Hit & Run competition Sunday, Sept. 26, at Minute Maid Park in Houston. Each player won the MLB Pitch Hit & Run contest qualifier hosted at Navasota High School on March 27, and their scores were compared to other players in their age division across the region. The top three player scores in each division advanced. Players compete in a pitching, hitting and running skills competition. Grimes County had a great showing at Minute Maid Park with all three qualifiers placing. First place winners will have their scores tallied and if they are among the top three amongst all MLB team locations they will advance to compete at the 2021 MLB World Series.
