Blood Drive Sunday in Anderson
The Grimes County Mobile Food Bank will be open Thursday, Feb. 9 from 9:30-10:45 a.m. in the back-parking lot of the Grimes County Fairgrounds in Navasota. Any resident of Grimes County will be served and will only need to show their driver’s license when they complete the once-a-year Client Assistant Intake form. Fanthorp Inn invites you to the 189th wedding anniversary of Rachel Virginia Kennard and Henry Fanthorp. This couple started it all here in Anderson. Hear the story of their early life, courtship, and marriage, and discover the traditions associated with an 1830s wedding. This commemoration of their marriage will take place Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 11 and Feb. 12 from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. On Saturday only during those hours, take a ride through history and experience what travel in early Texas was truly like on their replica stagecoach.

The Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center will hold a blood drive at St. Stanislaus Parish Hall, 1511 Hwy. 90 S in Anderson, on Sunday, Feb. 12 from 8:30 a.m. until 1 p.m. This event will be hosted by the Knights of Columbus, Council 4054. A free pullover will be given to all donors as well as food and drink. Donors must bring their I.D. and walk-ins are welcome.
The Grimes County Republican Party will hold their annual Reagan Dinner Saturday, Feb. 18 at the Expo Center in Navasota. Doors open at 5 p.m. and dinner will be served beginning at 6 p.m. Guest Speaker this year is Texas Commissioner of Agriculture Sid Miller. As usual the delicious steak dinner with all the trimmings will be served by Leona General Store. Individual seats are now $85 each. Table sponsorships are available also.
