Our neighbors Charlie and KK White and Tug and Regan White held a grand opening Friday for their new wedding venue, Camp Hosea, on their property, 17476 FM 3090 between Anderson and Carlos just off FM 244. The venue is a peaceful and beautiful country setting that will charm all that visit it. Their first wedding is in May. Good luck to the White family on their new venture. Google Camp Hosea to check it out.

Don and I attended a Montgomery High School class reunion Saturday at the Old Oak Taphouse off Hwy. 105 (on the old Haggard’s Country property). Classes honored were 1948-1980. I was from the Class of 1971. It was good to see people I haven’t seen in years. Around 100 attended including a few teachers. Ikey Barrett, 92, was the oldest alumni there. Bill Mock and Karl Waitz provided wonderful music. Back in the day, everyone knew almost all the students from kindergarten through the 12th grade. It’s not like that today, that’s why I was excited that all three of my children graduated from Anderson and got to experience the smaller school atmosphere where everyone looks out for their friends and teachers that care about every individual.

Mark your calendars for the famous St. Joseph’s Stew Supper Thursday, Mar. 16 at 6 p.m. in the parish hall in Stoneham. Supper will be served after Mass at 5:30 p.m. The yearly event is put on by the Altar Society to celebrate St. Joseph’s Feast Day. A delicious homemade beef stew, wonderful bread and homemade pies are on the menu. The supper is $10 for adults and $5 for children 12 and under. They usually have some left over that you can buy to take home. Lots of people bring their own bowls or containers. A raffle and short auction will coincide with the supper. Don’t miss it.

Sadness fell again this week when Bettie Wrobleski left us here on Earth Feb. 27, the day of her 86th birthday. She is reunited with her late husband Marion who passed away in 1995. Bettie was very active in her lifelong church, St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Anderson. For many years Bettie and her family sat behind Don and I in church. Before Mass began, she and I would get caught talking too much and too loudly. Don would always tell us we were going to be sent to the cry room if we didn’t behave. But truth be known, Don and Bettie were also culprits of the same crime. But we had to catch up on what happened since the Sunday before. She was definitely one of my favorite people. She liked me because even in the winter we would both wear sandals to church – no matter how cold and nasty the weather was. We were always happy to be barefoot in the country.
