Area residents, friends and family members of Dorothy Dottie Ann Beene of Oakhurst were sorry to learn of her death Dec. 7. She was born March 3, 1940 to Lewis and Elizabeth Talbot in Mt. Vernon, VA. She married Gary Beene in Virginia July 3, 1971. They were married for 51 years and were members of Family Faith Church. Through her service, numerous souls were led to Christ. She is survived by her husband, several children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was buried in Martins Prairie Cemetery where her husband’s parents, Tucker and Faye Beene, are buried. Do remember her husband and family members in your prayers.

Area friends of Chance Gressett were happy to learn he was released from the hospital following liver transplant surgery. There was a small parade held for him on Main Street in Iola Sunday, Dec. 18. He is the son of Kevin Gressett. Do remember him and his family members in your prayers as he plans to return to school after the first of the year.

Evergreen Baptist Church posted the following message on their bulletin board: Who can add to Christmas? The perfect motive is that God so loved the world. The perfect gift is that he gave his only Son. The only requirement of faith is that you shall have everlasting life. It was written by Corrie Ten Boom.

Do hope your Christmas was wonderful, happy and safe. Wishing happiness to everyone in the new year.
