Finally ventured out

I had my first trip out since March 13, and I made sure we weren’t stopping anywhere until we reached our destination. It was good to see different scenery, but I was also nervous what to expect. My husband is the only one in our household who has been going out. It was easier for him and I since he didn’t mind going out.

Texas salons and barbershops opened Friday, May 8 and I know everyone is trying to get to their favorite salon or barber. Some owners believe it’s too soon to reopen and are waiting a little longer before they open. Tattoo shop owners are upset they couldn’t open. I’m going to wait until June or July for that salon visit. Prayers for all.

Happy Teacher’s Appreciation Day to all educators. This year has truly been unique for all educators and students. Texas Teachers Rock!

Happy National Nurse’s Week to all nurses. They are on the front lines taking care of everyone during this crisis. Nursing is a very rewarding career. Our salute to all nurses.

The Grimes County Fair Association Horse Show at the GC Fairgrounds will be held Wednesday, May 27, through Friday, May 29. The show is for youth actively involved in GC 4-H and FFA organizations.

House Concerts at the Gallery Downtown, 101 East Washington is hosting Bart Crow Saturday, May 23 with special guest Steve Idlest, beginning at 7 p.m.

The governor is opening Texas back up even though the COVID-19 is still not controlled. Everyone please be cautious if you have to go out. Prayers for all who have to be out in public for jobs. Remember trouble doesn’t last.

Due to COVID-19, IRS has extended the filing of federal taxes deadline until July 15, 2020.

All jobs for the 2020 Census have been temporarily suspended. The Census Bureau is hiring hundreds of thousands of people across the country for temporary positions, including enumerates, office staff and recruiting assistants. To apply for a job doing Census go to 2020census.gov/ jobs or text “Texas jobs” to 313131. You will receive the Census forms in the mail. You can also answer questions via the internet and submit it.
