Food pantry has large turnout
Robert and Melissa Perez celebrated their 17th anniversary by remarrying Saturday, July 16, at the Keith Community Center. Their four children, Elissa, Robert Jr., Brandon, Marianna and their grandson David Perez each attended. The ceremony was performed by Rev. Philip Flores. Following the event, a meal and wedding cake was served. Approximately 30 attended. May God continue to bless those present.
Jack Griedl was the guest speaker at Evergreen Baptist Church Sunday, July 17. He is the football coach at Bastrop High School. He is one of the 10 up and coming high school coaches in Texas.
There was certainly a good turnout for the Iola Food Pantry at the Iola Missionary Baptist Church Fellowship Hall Saturday, July 16. There were approximately 60 people or family groups that were present. There were even two new families present. Not only were the usual canned goods available, but there was also fresh food including strawberries, carrots and other good things. The pantry is open the third Saturday of the month from 9-11 a.m. for anyone in need.
Keith Civic Club will meet Thursday, July 28, for their monthly meeting at the Keith Community Center. Instead of the covered dish meal, attendees are asked to bring sandwiches, chips, dips, cookies and ice cream. The meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m. All are invited to attend.
Pyramid Masonic Lodge No 593 installed officers at their lodge meeting Tuesday, July 19, with a good number in attendance. The covered dish meal was enjoyed by all present. The main dish was barbecue. The new Worshipful Master is Mike Cohen. A good time was enjoyed by all.
Evergreen Baptist Church had a wonderful Vacation Bible School this year. There were approximately 60 children and workers. Children enjoyed all the activities and a waterslide.
