It sure was good to see my neighbor, Art Courville, up and running after his knee surgery but it was fantastic to see him smiling, playing dominoes and enjoying his retirement. Way to go, Art!

I decided to accept the invite to the Roans Prairie Community Center this week to visit while others played dominoes. Unfortunately, I don’t play 82 and 42 so I talked and watched. Since it was obvious that Ronnie Floyd and Stanley Kettler needed assistance serving Blue Bell, I went to help them. Actually, I wanted to be sure I got some ice cream!

Prior to my Roans Prairie visit, I dropped off a cake with my longtime friend, John Williams. He didn’t even ask what kind of cake it was but pointed me where to place it. Happy 82nd birthday!

My last stop was to visit Aunt Norma. I shared some of my recent stories and I think she enjoyed the visit. She had a birthday last Friday and almost all of her family joined her to celebrate over the weekend.

If you have any items you may wish to sell, please feel free to join the VFW Craft Fair Saturday, Aug. 20. Items are not limited to just crafts. Call the VFW Post, 936-825- 3666 and leave a message for the Commander to return your call.

Free Bingo is still offered at the Post on Tuesdays at 5:30 p.m. with corn hole games from Grimes County Cornhole following at 7 p.m. There will be food available for purchase.

The Post and Auxiliary members encourage all members to come to the monthly meetings. The Auxiliary side tries to have fun as they plan ways to help veterans.

My granddaughter, Bryanna, attended cheer camp this week and was chosen as an All-American Cheerleader. I’m not sure what is next to come, so I am anxiously waiting to find out. All that leg kicking she did as a toddler and cheer lessons are paying off. She is a junior this year and has been cheer captain at Somerville.

Please continue to keep our sick and homebound friends on your prayer list.
