Iola VFD Fundraiser March 13-14
The annual fish fry that Evergreen Baptist Church held at the Iola Fire Department this past Saturday, was certainly a success and enjoyed by all who attended. Around 220 plates were served. The money raised will help the kids from church attend camp this summer. Thanks to all that assisted from those cooking the fish to those donating items for the silent auction.
The monthly meeting of the Iola-North Zulch Order of the Eastern Star No. 458 was held at the Pyramid Masonic Lodge No. 593 in North Zulch Monday, Feb. 24 with a good number in attendance. The main meal was chili with the trimmings and dessert. During the business meeting a variety of business was discussed and acted upon. All present had a wonderful time.
The annual fundraiser for the Iola Volunteer Fire Department will be held March 13-14 with multiple activities planned throughout both days. On Friday, they will have live music and serve crawfish. Saturday they will serve fish plates. There will also be a live and silent auction. Do make plans to attend and support our firemen as they assist our community. Just think, it may be your house or property they are called out to. There will also be vendor booths available inside for rent for $50 or outside for $25.
The monthly meeting of the Grimes County Historical Commission will be held at the annex building in Anderson Monday, March 9, 6 p.m. Anyone interested in the history of our county are invited to attend.
