Sunday, May 10 was Mother’s Day. Do hope that all those who have living mothers honored them on that special day. The people of Evergreen Baptist Church were among the area churches that did so. They passed out red roses to the mothers that were present. Also, the Mexican restaurant Juan and Linda’s passed out red roses to the women present. Good of them to do so. God bless all our mothers and bless the memory of those who have passed away.

There were two tombstones placed in Evergreen Cemetery on Tuesday, May 12 for Beverly Cobb Moore Nov. 21, 1948 – June 19, 2019. She was the daughter of Mary Louis Rice Cobb, who she is buried beside. The other monument was for Edwin Leonard Williams Nov. 16, 1936 – April 6, 2010. He is buried beside his wife Irene Gilskey Williams. May their memories be blessed. Their monuments were set by College Station Monument Co.

After some time of no meetings, the Iola-North Zulch Order of the Eastern Star will finally meet again. The meeting will be held on Monday, May 25, at 7:30 p.m. at their meeting hall in the Pyramid Masonic Lodge No 593. There won’t be a meal served, and all those attending are asked to wear a face mask. At this meeting new officers for the upcoming year will be elected, so all members are asked to try to attend.

We certainly had a good rain Tuesday, May 12. My gauge showed around one inch, but I am sure there are more than that. Every bit was certainly appreciated.
