Richards News

In just 30 days we spring forward! I am so ready for spring! Maybe this will help everyone to feel much better!

It seems the whole world is sick right now. If you do have to go out and about take precautions like washing your hands often to protect yourself.

Flu is running rapid in China. People are being quarantined in San Antonio from China. Then of course one of the latest was coming from the Lake Charles Casino in Louisiana where 200 people have become sick due to a highly contagious virus and has prompted an investigation by state officials. Officials are saying even after you are over the virus you can still spread the virus for three weeks. People come from all over the country to the casinos. That means they will be taking the virus back to their own hometowns unless they plan on staying for a very long time at the casinos.

Well as for me and my family we have not been to China and do not have any intentions of going, nor have we been to the casinos. My husband was sick about a month ago and he told me everyone was sick at work. My son then got sick maybe at college not sure. I am the only one that hasn’t been sick that is until now. I have had two different illnesses recently and I am not alone.

Richards ISD had so much sickness this past week that they shut down From Wednesday, Feb. 5, through Friday, Feb. 7. The custodians went through every room to deep clean to prevent further spread of the illness that is going around the school. The basketball games Friday, Feb. 7, were played as scheduled.

Richards Civic Club canceled their regularly scheduled board meeting due to the school’s illnesses as well.

On a happier note, the Classic Car Show was held Tuesday and the Panthers were back in school with a sock hop for pre-K through eighth grade, followed by the Alumni game for all to enjoy!

There was a whole lot of excitement this week at Steve and Joyce McClellan’s home in Richards. Jake McClellan their son came in from serving our country. Jake was at home just one day when Parker Mc-Clellan made his appearance into this world the very next day! Adriana Leigh McClellan and baby are doing fine. Congratulations to all the Mc-Clellans on this very special gift from God! Jake McClellan we would like to say thank you for serving our country.

Just a reminder i t will be Valentine’s Day soon! Do not forget your valentine! Alice Marie Stephenson contacted me about a fundraiser she was doing for a good cause for Valentines in Navasota. She is raising money for children who need free haircuts. She is selling roses, for all occasions. She also offers other things. If you would like to contact her about roses or to see what other things she is offering, you may reach her at 936-727-4858.

Mathew Ybarra notified me that the lone rider that I wrote about a few weeks ago had contacted him. You might remember the man that had lost his daughter while texting and driving. He was riding horseback in memory of his daughter and to tell others about the Lord. She had lost her life texting and driving. He called to thank me for putting it in the Richards news. He also wanted to say thank you for the prayers. So, I would like to say thank you, to all who have been praying for him and do continue to keep him in your prayers. This time I know his name. His name is Bobby Janisch Jr.

Happy Valentine’s Day to all my readers! Have a beautiful week!
