The first day of school for Anderson-Shiro CISD is Wednesday, Aug. 17. Navasota ISD begins Monday, Aug. 22. I hope everyone has a great school year.
There will be a benefit for Otis Greenwood Saturday, Aug. 13, at the Plantersville-Stoneham VFD. Otis is in the hospital recovering from surgery and the fundraiser is dedicated to assisting in paying the medical expenses. The event will run from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. or until the food runs out. The following will be served: twomeat plate for $15; turkey leg $10 or a sausage on a stick for $5. Cash only accepted.
A Hazard Mitigation Plan public meeting is being held at the Navasota Center, 101 Stadium Drive in Navasota, Thursday, Aug. 11, from 7-8 p.m. The public is asked to participate in the plan with input.

Grimes County True Blue Foundation needs silent and live auction donations for their annual banquet Saturday, Aug. 19, at the Grimes County Fairgrounds. All proceeds from the banquet helps to provide equipment to local law enforcement officers in which department budgets lack funding for. Todd Mission VFD Rehab is currently reaching out to the public for donation assistance. Due to the extreme heat and the high call volume firefighters have faced, resources are exhausting quickly.
