The White Hall Community VFD met Monday, Dec. 5, for their regular business meeting. There were 16 members present and a new member, Dawn Mendez, was sworn into the group. The meeting had limited news to share but I heard the first Saturday sandwich sales went well. The next monthly meeting is Jan. 9.

Kalem and Kristie Evans were awesome hosts for the wedding of their daughter, Kaleigh, and my grandson, Jordan. The wedding was held outside the “chapel” location of the Brownstone Venue in Kurten. Both the rehearsal and wedding were held at the location. Joni and Butch provided BBQ and all the fixings made by Clint Hurst. He donated a BBQ meal for Butch Fields’s funeral and was booked that same day for the rehearsal. I provided the requested desserts including Jordan’s favorite cake he calls “diabetes cake,” because if you didn’t have diabetes before you will after you eat it.

My grandson was excited to receive and wear his Grandpa Butch’s Mickey Mouse watch and his great grandfather’s cuff links with the “F” on them. Kaleigh had a tie tack designed with a small charm of Grandpa Butch on it and she had socks made with the three dogs’ faces on them.  Poor young man came to me prior to the wedding and showed me his hands. He was very nervous and shaking so much.

During the ceremony, a dog ran thru the seated guests and an usher dove for it but that did not deter the wonderful ceremony. Charles Wendt, Kaleigh’s grandfather, received his certification to officiate the wedding, which was such a special memorable gesture. After the ceremony, Jordan told me Kaleigh referred to his ring as a bracelet. He has big hands like my dad. I remember when daddy passed, Grant Holt told us he had never noticed how big Mr. Molitor’s hands actually were.

The bride was absolutely beautiful. She is so much like her mother who was also beautiful. Kalem was proud especially after it was announced there was a special song for him and Kristie to dance in honor of their anniversary. The new couple did good!

All the special dances were quite memorable. There was smoke rising during the wedding dance. Dad and daughter and the Mom and son dance all brought tears. The brother and brother dance brought laughter, however, seeing their close relationship was heartwarming to this Gingi.  A $1 dance was available, and Jordan amazed all of us with his dancing skills. The most special dance to me was when Jordan asked me to dance. Kacie was crying at that point.

Both my daughters along with Paige, Bree and Bean had a blast dancing to music that I had no clue what the words were. I got on the floor and acted like I could dance especially when PeeWee Evans came and got me. I was on my second pair of shoes at that time but the third came soon after that. Uncle Pint (Willie Williams) made his appearance known with his singing and dance moves too.

All and all, it was a beautiful, perfect wedding and I cannot thank Kaleigh’s family enough for accepting my Jordan and loving him as they do. Kalem and Kristie, you both are so talented and all the special decorations you both made were phenomenal. Thank you again for a wonderful time!
