Whitehall News

Veterans Day was here with all the festivities and the official date has passed. However, it is my thought that helping veterans and soldiers’ families, assistance programs, hospitalized veterans and homeless, to name a few, be a year-round effort on everyone’s calendar of events. If you know any veteran who needs assistance, I urge you to contact the Post or call me. Due to privacy rules and regulations, we cannot always locate those men and women or their families, so please help us locate them.

Thank you to the people who assisted in any way to support the Veterans Day celebration and recognition of those veterans. To the people who were in the parade you are also appreciated. While I did not get to attend, I did get a photo of the Whitehall mayor on his Veterans float and I loved it!

There were people who cooked the barbecue, set up the Post, baked items for the meal and bake sale, donated raffle and silent auction items, sold raffle tickets and worked numerous hours for this day to be a success. Thank you all.

Please keep the family of Charlie Waters in your prayers as he passed this week. Charlie was a member of the American Legion, the Whitehall Community Center and the WHCVFD until he suffered his stroke and was then unable to continue.

One of my favorite young men, Cullen Robbins, was involved in a wreck. It was scary when my son-in-law saw him crawl out of the wreckage and get into a vehicle, which happened to be his mothers. We are all thankful that his injuries were not worse. Keep him in your prayers for fast healing.

Their mission is made possible through the generosity and support of benefactors, not through church apportionment.

Due to so many of FUMC Hempstead’s Choir members being ill, having or healing from surgeries, there will be no Christmas Cantata this year. We offer our prayers for healing and full recovery to each of them.

Please join us on Christmas Eve. Worship Service will be Tuesday, Dec. 24, at 3 p.m. We will have a light meal of soup and sandwiches with fellowship after the service. Please bring your families, friends and neighbors with you to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ.
