Taxpayers Association meeting July 7

The rain was so nice this week and we can use more. I hope that people were cautious if they decide to celebrate July 4th with fireworks. I read that if a fire starts while popping fireworks a fine up to $500 can be issued since Grimes County is still in a burn ban.

I decided to surprise Joni for her birthday on Tuesday. It took longer to get to Lyons with all the road construction along the way. I was surprised because Butch had come home to take Joni out to eat, so I was invited, too.

The White Hall Taxpayers Association quarterly meeting is 7:30 p.m. Thursday, July 7, at the community center.

Salem Lutheran Church is hosting VBS July 11-15, from 9-11:30 a.m. It’s a week of stories, crafts, games, singing and good food. Preschool to seventh graders are welcome. “The Tree of Life,” God’s plan for salvation is the lesson plan to be used. Email secretarylady2010@hotmail. com for a permission form.

July is the month to update the Elite Athletic Booster Backer status for the graduates of the 1969 Navasota High School. If you wish to donate to the $350 due, please let me know.

Free Bingo is offered at the VFW every Tuesday beginning at 5:30 p.m. until around 7 p.m. Then the cornhole tournament begins. There are food trucks present for purchases.

It just occurred to me that half of 2022 is gone. The saying about time lost, energy and words said you can never get back once they have been exchanged, came to mind. Choose wisely.
