I am so proud of my great-niece Kami Giles, daughter of Eric and Brandie Giles of Anderson. Kami is a first-grader at Anderson-Shiro Elementary and a student of Baylee Imhoff Brzozowski. She was recognized at the last school board meeting for Student of the Month for September. Her teacher, Ms. B, said “Kami was chosen for Owl of the Month for her kindness and determination. She is a natural leader inside and outside the classroom. Kami is friendly and kind to all of her classmates and is respectful and polite to all of her teachers and adults. Kami strives to do her best every day and sets goals and is determined to achieve them. She has a joy for learning that can brighten any teacher’s day.” Congratulations Kami!

Condolences to the family of Edward Pasket, age 90, who died Friday. Edward was a lifelong member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church as well as a charter member of the Knights of Columbus Council 4054 in Anderson. He had a passion for working as he farmed cotton for several years and later became a well-known cotton harvester in the Brazos Valley and the Rio Grande Valley but in his spare time he enjoyed collecting antique cars. Edward and his wife Doris would have been married 66 years next month on Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 28. Funeral service and burial were held at St. Stanislaus Tuesday, Oct. 22.
