How many of you remember the days of boot scootin’ at the Navasota VFW Hall years ago? I do! Many a Saturday evening you would find all the locals and some out-oftowners having a good time visiting and dancing the night away. Now, the VFW holds music Friday nights for dancing, but if you haven’t been in awhile you might want to re-kindle those memories by coming out to St. Mary’s Parish Hall from 7 to 11 p.m. this Friday night Feb. 15. The St. Mary Guardian Angels Senior Group will hold their annual Valentine Dance in Planters-ville. The public is invited to attend, but only if they are 50-years-old or older. Music will be provided by our local musician, Bill Mock and his Hwy. 105 Band. Admission is $10 per person and beer, wine and snacks will be available. (No ice chests allowed inside the hall). “Let the good times roll!” See you there!
•Thursday is Valentine’s Day – a day to show lots of love to not only your family but others around you. Love doesn’t give only to those who are able to give in return but rejoices in giving to those who can’t. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things; love never fails. Video games will break, pearl necklaces will be lost, golf clubs will rust, but giving the gift of love will endure. And it’s free – it just takes a piece of your heart. Happy Valentine’s Day!
•The Grimes County Mobile Food Bank will be open from 10 a.m. until 12 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 14. You must be a resident of Grimes County to participate. Proof of residence is required.
