My week has flown by and I am not sure what I actually accomplished. Little Man spent lots of time with me since he was not able to attend daycare, but we try to have fun. I can’t get on the floor to play ball, so I sit in a chair and roll the ball. Little Curtis Zwahr, Jr. was able to come home from the hospital and is doing good. I do know “Dappy” is happy about that. Please continue to pray for him and his family as they adjust to the changes they have had to endure. My oldest grandson, Jordan, turned 25, Aug. 11, does that make me offi cially old? Several of us ate at Atami last night to celebrate his special day. I made a cake and put 25 candles on it. As the chef started his show, Kaleigh said Paula Dean should back up because the flames might ignite her hairspray. She was talking about me, so I moved back up against the wall to avoid any additional flames! The Friends of Chamber Music, a non-profit, in the Bryan/College Station area have several shows in September. They recruit performers to come to the Brazos Valley for concerts. Visit https://www.fcmtx. org for more information.

I had lunch with Sandra “Wehmeier” Briers and Bib “Hancock” Kapchinski. I graduated from high school with Sandra and worked at TAMU with Bib. We had a blast talking of old times, sharing stories and sharing pictures of grandchildren. Since all the COVID restrictions, I have thoroughly missed these types of visits. If you have a chance to get with old friends, please do it!

Meet the Rattlers was fun and community attendance was good. Linda and I waved enough to get Chucky’s attention and he told me that after that he looked every direction except ours. Nothing like trying to embarrass your grandchildren!

The Aug. 20 craft fair planned at the VFW Post has been postponed again due to lack of interest. There is still free Bingo on Tuesday night beginning at 5:30 p.m. and cornhole at 7 p.m. Food is available for the public.

Union Grove Baptist Church, 15301 FM 362 in Navasota is hosting a free Seed Starting Class as part of their Gardens of Faithfulness series taught by Samuel Robinson. This hands-on training will be held Saturday, Aug. 27, from 10 am until noon. Anyone from the area is welcome to attend this free event. Topics to be covered are seed germination, seed start dates, soil preparation, seed trays, etc. Questions can be sent to uniongrove362@gmail. com; no RSVP needed.
