Visit monthly VFD meetings
On behalf of White Hall Community VFD, I would like to invite community residents to attend business meetings held the first Monday of each month. Meetings help the community know what is going on with the department, they can ask questions and visit with volunteer firefighters and auxiliary members. This is not a means of getting you to join, but a way of supplying information about our department. However, we are always ready for new members. Training for firefighters is planned by our Training Coordinator, Christopher Vickers.
As most of you know, we have several volunteer fire departments in Grimes County but unfortunately our County is not rich so the allotments each department receives do not cover all expenses to keep our residents safe. Our department covers 60 square miles of protection. White Hall VFD needs new air tanks. When the amount per tank was discussed and the fact that we need 14, I kind of lost my breath for a moment. Not having fire personnel in my family means I am not aware of all the equipment costs. Perhaps you feel the same way. Come visit with us the first Monday of the month at 7 p.m. at the station.
Our first Saturday BBQ sandwich sale this month was a profitable one and we appreciate our loyal customers who support by purchasing our sandwiches. In case you didn’t know, our firefighters and auxiliary are also our BBQ cookers, sauce makers, delivery staff, etc.
Salem Lutheran Fish Fry is March 24, at White Hall Community Center, 5:30 - 7:30 p.m. Onsite dining and carryout available. Tickets are $15 each and can be purchased ahead of time or at the door. Hope to see you there.
