Anderson town cleanup Saturday

Winner number 35 of the 2nd Annual St. Joseph’s Catholic Church 52-week gun raffle was drawn Sunday, April 24. The winner of a Ruger Mark IV, Target, 22 LR is Troy Hopman of Cypress. The next drawing will take place Sunday, May 1.

Raffle winners at the St. Stanislaus CCE Spring Festival on Sunday were: (1) $500 Visa gift card – Stanley Sechelski; (2) $400 Visa gift card – Kassi Lang; (3) 58” onn. Roku TV – Eli Prukop; (4) $300 Visa gift card – Rachel Womack; (5) $200 Lowe’s gift card – Fred McClosky; and (6) $200 Walmart gift card – Cynthia Coronado.

The Town of Anderson will hold their annual spring town cleanup this Saturday, April 30 from 8 a.m. until noon. Containers courtesy of Brazos Valley Solid Waste Management Agency will be located at the intersection of Main St. and FM 1774 by the Historic Anderson park area. Brush, tree limbs and non-household trash will be collected free to the residents of the town. Tires or hazardous materials will not be collected. Please call if you need curbside service. The Ag Booster Club of Anderson-Shiro will hold their annual dinner, auction and dance Saturday, April 30 at the Grimes County Expo Center. A barbecue dinner and silent auction will be held from 6-8 p.m. with the live auction beginning at 7 p.m. Main items for the live auction are items built by the Ag students themselves. A dance with music provided by the Texas Unlimited Band will begin after the live auction and last until midnight. Cost to get in is $15 per person or a table of eight for $100. Bring your own bottle. For tickets contact Kari Lynn Eisenman, 936- 825-5311. Although tickets are requested to be purchased in advance, so the organization can be sure there is enough food for all, you can also purchase your tickets at the door that evening.

The Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center continues to need blood. To help meet this need, the Knights of Columbus Council #4054 will host another blood drive Sunday, May 1 in the St. Stanislaus Parish Hall in Anderson from 8 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. All donors will receive a free beach towel. Contact Henry Ostermann, 936-873-2291 for more information. To sign up, go to www.giveblood. org and enter sponsor code: STKR. A pancake breakfast in the hall will accompany the event. The next blood drive is June 26.

The family of the late John and JoAnn Sowell gathered Sunday at the home of Don and Gail Sowell in Anderson. In attendance were 32 family members who enjoyed delicious food and picture-perfect weather. The kids had a blast on our water slide and had to basically be pulled out of the water for the Easter Egg hunt. Then straight back to the water they went! Everyone had a nice and relaxing day. Family is everything!
