Sunday potluck at Salem sure was good and I enjoy getting to visit with members and eating someone else’s goodies.

It was so good to finally be able to go to Bree’s softball game. In fact, I got to see her play two games. Her position is third base and she is so entertaining. As a little girl she couldn’t be still. You would think she was playing t-ball the way she dances, twirls and just enjoys herself. Watching her released some of my tension and stress and she played a good game. Somerville beat Burton by run rule but lost by three runs when they called the game due to weather against North Zulch. I am missing Bean and Julian’s baseball games due to distance and another commitment.

Allen “Butch” Fields had surgery this week. Thanks for all the prayers. The process was serious for him, but he did well, and we pray the recovery is quick. Leon Gorney was hospitalized as was Margaret Finke. I have not yet heard much about them yet.

Wednesday night Bible studies at Union Grove are great discussion opportunities. Pastor, Faber McMullen, began a six-week study of Bible prophecy covering passages from several books of the Bible that speak to future events. Sunday services begin at 10:30 am (Sunday school for all ages including nursery at 9:15) and Wednesday activities begin at 6 pm. Everyone from the community is invited!

Sonshine Sisters had a good time Thursday. There was a good group with Brenda coming for the first time. I was there for a few minutes but unfortunately had to leave for a lovely three and a half hour of medical attention. Honestly, it took three different nurses to find a vein to take blood. On that last stick, I thought the technician lady went from the inside of my arm down to my elbow and I still have the proof, but she finally got her bottles full.

The Grimes County VFW Post and Auxiliary 4006 met for their monthly business meeting. The Auxiliary side was not well attended but considering the weather, that is understandable. We did get things accomplished so that was good. Next meeting will be Apr. 21. Those present were appreciative of the cards they have received. I want to thank Barbara Courville for making this project possible.

Please continue to keep our sick and homebound friends on your prayer list. These friends include Von Herring, Leon Gorney, Lois Bell, Jean Fleischhauer, Margaret Schultz, Lynette Frenzel, Sue Kolojaco, Mary Bauer, Rosa Finke, Jack Rimes, Marilyn Frenzel, Delores Mitschke, Glenn Binder, Laura Pursley, Allen “Butch” Fields, Margaret Finke, Pauline Kaspar, Mary Whatley, Billie Wittenbach, Beth McGinty and Alexander Hanna.
