First Monday

• The Grimes County Republican Party meets at 7 p.m. the first Monday of each month at the Anderson Community Center, 415 Hill St. in Anderson.

Second Tuesday

• The Grimes County Democrats meet at 6:30 p.m. the second Tuesday of each month at the Progressive Outreach Center located at 615 W. Virginia St. in Navasota.

• The Grimes County Amateur Radio Group will meet at 6:30 p.m. the second Tuesday of each month at the Navasota Center, 101 Stadium Drive, in Navasota. The club is open to all ages. • The Richards Township Association holds their monthly meetings at 7 p.m. the second Tuesday of each month at the Richards Fire Department.

March 21

• Have you ever entertained thoughts of being a writer? If so, then this may be the opportunity for you! NTA would like to help and encourage people interested in learning to write scripts. Our first Script Writing Seminar will be on March 21 from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. (lunch provided) in the lobby of the Navasota Theatre Alliance at 104 W Washington Ave. Mavis Anderson will speak about Historical Research, and Mark Taylor will address script writing for historical subjects and the creative process. Participants will be given historical information and the opportunity to write a possible script for Lanterns and Legends. Future seminars will focus on writing anecdotal biographies, skits, and one act plays. If you are interested in this opportunity email Janice Kerlee at revkerlee@ gmail.com. There is no cost for NTA members and $5 fee for nonmembers. Group size is limited to 10 people.

March 24

• In an effort to inform more people about the importance of using native plants to support birds and other wildlife, the Post Oak Chapter of the Native Plant Society of Texas invites the public to a free screening of the Doug Tallamy film “The Value of Having Native Plants in Our Yards.” on Tuesday March 24, 6:30 p.m. at the Brazos Valley Museum of Natural History, 3232 Briarcrest Rd in Bryan. There will be great door prizes, giveaways, and refreshments. For more information, call 979 571 6448.

• Grimes County Relay for Life Survivor Caregiver Dinner is March 26, 6 p.m. at First Methodist Church. All survivors and their caregivers are welcome to attend. For more information, please email us at grimescorelayforlife@gmail. com or leave a message on their Facebook page.

March 29

• Join the Navasota Theatre Alliance for a free play in which Jordan Harrison explores the mysteries of human identity and the limits – if any – of what technology can replace. All proceeds/donations will be donated to Grimes County Animal Shelter, a local new nonprofit rescuing animals. There will be only 3 shows: Friday & Saturday at 7 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m. at Navasota Theatre Alliance 104 W Washington Ave.

April 1

• Join the Navasota Garden Club Wednesday, April 1, 9:30 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in Navasota to carpool to the A&M Leach Teaching Gardens. This should be a very informative meeting. Lunches will be purchased from Chicken Salad Chick to eat at the Leach Garden. Please notify an officer if you plan to attend this meeting so they can reserve your lunch.

April 4

• Join the Grimes County 4-H for a Crawfish Boil Fundraiser Saturday, April 4th, 12-7 p.m. at Navasota High School, 1 Rattler Drive. Tickets may be purchased through 4-H by March 15, tickets are $10 and includes all you can eat crawfish, treats, music and games! • Scotty’s House Child Advocacy Center will host a Blue Ribbon ceremony, along with local law enforcement and child service agencies, to raise awareness of the serious problem of child abuse and/or neglect in our community Thursday, April 9, 10 a.m. at Navasota City Hall, 200 E. April 14

• Join the First United Methodist Church for a Blood Drive Tuesday, April 9, 11:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. at Fellowship Hall, 616 Holland St., Navasota. Please call 1-800-REDCROSS(1-800-733-2767) or visit www.redcrossblood.org and enter Navasota to schedule an appointment.

May 6

• Join the Navasota Garden Club Wednesday, March 4, 9:30 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in Navasota to carpool to Mood Ranch Outfitters on FM 3090 in Navasota. The program is all about honeybees. The Garden Club is paying Moody Ranch to cater a great lunch. Please notify an officer if you plan to attend this meeting in order to have enough plates prepared.

Free Exercise Class

• A free exercise class focusing on strength and flexibility for senior adults taught by John MacDonald. They meet at Roans Prairie Community Center Monday and Thursday at 4 p.m. The event is free, but donations are accepted. Contact John 979-595-6175 for more information.

Every Thursday

• Need to Lose Weight? Join TOPS of Navasota, “Take Off Pounds Sensibly.” They meet every Thursday at 6 pm. at Grimes St. Joseph Outpatient/Rehab Building located next door to the hospital, 210 Judson St, Navasota. Private weigh in 5:30 p.m. to 5:55 p.m. A meeting is held at 6 p.m. Low, affordable monthly dues, group discussions and encouragement.

• Join Misslette, The SingingCowgirl at Las Fuentes, every Thursday from 6-9 p.m. singing western, Spanish and county classics for your listening pleasure while dining. For more information please contact 281-993-1560.
