Bryan, TX, June 26, 2019— Premier Inc., a healthcare improvement company, awarded Regional Hospital the Premier HIIN Award for Excellence in Patient Safety across the Board for excellence in 13 patient safety adverse event areas of focus. Grimes Hospital was named a TPT Quest Award Finalist for top performance in its peer group.

Regional Hospital was among roughly 20 health systems nationwide and the only one in the Brazos Valley to receive the HIIN recognition. Premier recognized Regional and Grimes during an awards ceremony held at its annual Breakthroughs Conference and Exhibition, held June 19-21 in Nashville.

“These awards refer to our commitment toward a culture of patient safety at Regional Hospital,” said Theron Park, President and CEO of CHI St. Joseph Health. “They recognize our efforts to hard-wire evidence-based practices into our day-to-day operations to ensure delivery of safe, reliable care that is free from harm for every patient, every time.”

For this recognition, Premier evaluated Regional Hospital’s 2018 performance data for 13 inpatient adverse event areas of priority in the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) Partnership for Patients program. Regional ranked in the 90th percentile on reporting, improvement and benchmark achievement.

Premier assessed Grimes’ performance in five dimensions of QUEST2020™ collaborative. Those categories include affordability, effective care and coordination, prevention and treatment for leading causes of mortality, person and family experience and patient safety.

QUEST2020 is a three-year program designed to help health systems connect with peers, evidence-based practices and data. The program is aligned with the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality’s National Quality Strategy to provide care for individuals and the community. QUEST2020 members outperform their peers by 23 percent in the Centers for Medicaid and Medicare Services (CMS) Hospital-Acquired Condition Reduction Program and by 29 percent in the Value-Based Purchasing Program.
