•The Shiro community churches will hold a sunrise service in the park beginning at 7 a.m. Sunday, April 21. There will be overflow parking available at the Shiro Volunteer Fire Department with a convenience shuttle to the park running from 6:15 to 7 a.m. An Easter egg hunt will follow the service.
•There will be a Girls Night Out, an evening of encouragement, featuring New York Times best-selling author Melanie Shankle from 7 to 9:30 p.m. Friday, May 3, at the First Baptist Church Navasota. Worship will be by Ashley Rush with a coffee bar and dessert to follow. Tickets are $20 per person or $15 per person for a group of 15 or more. •St. Matthew Missionary Baptist Church in Magnolia is holding a revival 7 p.m. nightly Wednesday, June 5, through Friday, June 7. •The Anderson Food Pantry has 2019 volunteer opportunities. Volunteers are needed from 1:30 to 5:30 p.m. on the first and third Wednesdays of each month to unload food from the truck, move boxes, unpack boxes, stock shelves and prep bags.
The food pantry is open to the public from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 5 to 7 p.m. the first Thursday of every month, except July due to a holiday. Volunteers are needed from 8 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. and 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. to prep bags, stock shelves, check-in clients, carry out grocers, stock the Thread Shed, tear down boxes and cleanup.
