HILLSBORO — Navasota held Hillsboro to a single point in the final period for the come from behind 37-35 win.

Anytime you can go on the road and come out with a win it’s a great thing,” explained Navasota Head Coach Tommy Gates. “Hillsboro is an athletic team that is well coached. They threw multiple defenses and presses at us. For the most part we adjusted well. I was proud that our kids kept their composure and we were able to finish.”

Ta’Shaunna Leigh provided the biggest scoring punch with 14 points. Kel’neisha Moore added 10 and Sha’Dimon King had six.

A trio of players scored two each, Tynasia Mock, Destiny Patterson and Shanquisha Curley. Jakayla Jones finished with one.

Navasota outrebounded Hillsboro 48-38, but had a couple more turnovers at 26-24. The Lady Rattlers connected on 14-48 (29.1 percent) of shots, while Hillsboro connected on 12-53 (22.6 percent). Navasota also shot 7-15 (50 percent) from the free throw line and Hillsboro was 7-9 (77.7 percent).
