Letter to the Editor

True goals of BLM

Dear Editor,

No one can deny that the death of George Floyd was horrendous, and all those involved must be brought to justice. While Black Lives Matter (BLM) has the right to protest, I wonder about the real motives of its founders.

In a 2015 video, co-founder Patrisse Cullors described herself and co-founder Alicia Garza as “trained marxists” (see BLM website). Cullors was a protege of Eric Mann of the domestic terror group Weather Underground. Marxism’s goal is to destroy our society, culture, history and even statues and replace with Communism. I question if BLM cares about ALL black lives or just those killed by white cops. If they care about ALL black lives, why aren’t they protesting Planned Parenthood (founded by a racist) that kills thousands of black babies every year or in cities like Chicago and Baltimore where blacks (not cops) are killing blacks in record numbers.

BLM supporters have vandalized and forced the removal of Confederate statues, and they have expanded to include our Founding Fathers and Presidents like anti-slavery Lincoln and Grant. Now some are even calling for the removal of Christian statues, stain-glass windows, etc. Political activist Shaun King, an open supporter of BLM, in his June 22 Twitter post called these depictions of “a white Jesus, His European mother, and white friends a form of white supremacy” and said “tear them down.” BLM has the freedom to kneel to our flag and anthem claiming it’s protesting racism. I see it as protesting this country and calling it evil. I will stand to show respect and honor to all those of all races who have fought to preserve these freedoms. And I only kneel to my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

MLK’s niece, Alveda King said, “You march, pray, make your concerns known, and vote in a moral way that isn’t going to kill or hurt anyone.” No violence. “The truth will set you free.” (John

“The truth will set you free.” (John 8:32)

Thank you,
