Letter to the editor

November 27, 2019 - 00:00

Dear Publisher,

I have been asked why my name will not appear on the ballot in 2020. While there are no term limits for district and appellate judges in Texas, there is an age limitation. A district or appellate judge may not serve as an elected judge beyond the term in which they reach the age of 74. During this year I celebrated my 74th birthday which means I will be required to retire from the bench at the end of this term – December 31, 2020.

It has been my privilege to serve the citizens of Grimes, Walker and Madison counties as the Judge of the 12th Judicial District Court for three terms. I greatly appreciate the support and encouragement I have received. Even though I will not hold the office, I will continue to serve as a judge by assignment.

Donald L. Kraemer

Judge, 12th Judicial

District Court

Grimes, Madison,

Walker Counties
