Dear Editor and Grimes County residents,

The Grimes County Crime Stoppers were organized to assist local law enforcement agencies fight crime by providing a way for citizens to report knowledge of criminal activity anonymously. We recently hosted our first Mother-Son Valentine Dance, and you may wonder what one has to do with the other.

On Feb. 8, 40 mothers, sons and a few grandmothers attended our first ever Mother-Son Valentine Dance and spent some quality time together just having fun. There would be no need for organizations such as ours if there were no crime and we believe that fostering healthy family units is another way to fight and deter crime. The dance provided just such an opportunity.

This event would not have been the success it was without the contributions of businesses and individuals who donated cash, goods and services or in-kind donations.

Grimes County Crime Stoppers would like to thank Aubrey Love, Brookshire Brothers, Rogers Douglas, Burger King, Kenny Graves of Willy 1550 and 98.7, the Grimes County Sheriff’s Office and the Diversion Crew, Mavis Baker with Jackin-the-Box, Las Fuentes Steak and Grill, McDonald’s, Johnny McNally, Navasota ISD Physical Education Department, Alfred Smallwood, Sonic, Town of Anderson, Walmart, Marilyn Bettes, Connie Clements and Bob Goldstein.

If you would like to become part of the effort to assist the law enforcement agencies of Grimes County, join us at 6 p.m. the first Thursday of each month at the Grimes County Courthouse Annex, 114 W. Buffington in Anderson. We’d love to have you!

Sincerely, Grimes County Crime Stoppers Anderson, Texas
