Autism Symposium with best-selling author

There will be a three-day symposium July 23 through July 25, to hear from the leaders in autism research and practice. This year’s keynote speaker Ron Suskind is a Pulitzer Prize winning journalist, best-selling author and the force behind the Sidekicks mobile app.

Suskind’s best-seller, “Life Animated” chronicles his family’s 20-year journey raising and connecting with their autistic son. The Sus-kind’s are also the subject of an award-wining documentary with the same title.

Other speakers include Dr. Barry M. Prizent, Dr. Brenda Smith Myles and Cheryl Boucher. Complimentary lunch will be provided, and attendees will receive a copy of Suskind’s book. Register at rebrand.ly/R4Autism, #R4Autism.

I’m sorry to announce the “Old Ship of Zion” play at St. Matthew Missionary Baptist Church in Magnolia is postponed for good. The sponsor had to move to with her daughter to Las Vegas.

“Cheers to Craft Beer” will host its fifth annual event craft beer tasting in downtown Bryan July 20, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. The event features beer tastings inside of downtown retail stores and restaurants. St. Mary Catholic Church in Plantersville will celebrate its 125th Homecoming Bazaar Sunday, Sept. 1, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. The church is located at 8227 CR 205.

American Idol will be in Houston for auditions Sept. 4, at the George R. Brown Convention Center.
