KC Bazaar in Anderson Sunday

Stagecoach Days at the Fanthorp Inn in Anderson are Saturday, July 13, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Take a trip back to 1850 as you explore what life was like traveling on the Texas frontier. Don’t miss this great opportunity to ride our mule-drawn stagecoach. Also enjoy a tour of Henry Fanthorp’s beautifully preserved inn or sit on the front porch and enjoy the sweet sound of dulcimer music. Texas Parks and Wildlife presents Fanthorp Inn to you without admission fees but with a suggested donation of $4 ($10 with coach ride) for adults and $2 ($5 with coach ride) for children. The Anderson Knights of Columbus will be holding their annual bazaar including a barbecue dinner, auction and raffle as well as fun for the children too. The event takes place Sunday, July 14, and will begin 11 a.m. at the KC Hall in Anderson. Come out and support these Knights as proceeds from the bazaar will benefit charities and the needy.

The Grimes County Mobile Food Bank will be held Thursday, July 11, from 10 a.m. until noon at the Grimes County Expo Center. All Grimes County residents are eligible to participate. Proof of residency is required.

Texas A&M AgriLife Extension will host a one-day Grimes County Leadership Camp Thursday, July 25, from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. at the Extension Office, 203 Veterans Memorial Dr., Navasota. This camp is free to all children in the community from 8 to 18 years old and includes outdoor and indoor activities, water games, craft activities and more. Lunch will be provided. For more information contact the Grimes County Extension office, 936-873-3907. Please go online or at the extension office and fill out the participant form to register by July 19. If you have problems getting registered in time, just call Stacey Male at the office.

Summer is flying by as it usually does and before long students, parents, teachers and administration will return to their normal school day routine. Mark your calendars now for Meet the Teacher night Aug. 12. The Elementary meet and greet will be from 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. and the Jr./Sr. High will do the same from 5:30 p.m. till 7 p.m.
