Hopefully, everyone enjoyed their Easter weekend, I sure did. Sonrise service at 6:30 a.m. is early for me but I managed to make it. Then the family came over and brought all the food. I was even fortunate to have my great granddaughter, Ellie, come and visit. I think she enjoyed trying to ride Buddy, the dog, and using one of my solar lights as a microphone for her singing debut more than the Easter egg hunt.

Mrs. Nelda Shive is home after her fall and rehab. I don’t think she is permitted to drive yet but she sounded upbeat. She is another avid lawn-mower and I would be willing to bet she is not happy about her limitations at this time.

The WHCVFD invites you to join them for good barbecue sandwiches May 4. Serving begins at 11 a.m. until sold out. Come by the station and see some of the upgrades.

Last Saturday, I drove Commander Dry, Maxine and Mrs. Jessie to Conroe for the District 17 Veterans of Foreign Wars meeting. The post auxiliary members brought bags of white socks for the veterans at the DeBakey Clinic. Each auxiliary donated a basket item for the Ways and Means Committee funding. District officer elections were also held.

Whitehall Café has walls and windows. I have not heard an opening date or menu but once I do, I will share. The Texas Pickers will be open May 4, for their antique sale from 8 a.m. till 4 p.m. in downtown Whitehall. Bill and Melanie welcome visitors and vendors.

Each Sunday worship services begin at 9 a.m.

May 5- Worship Service with Holy Communion

Special Communion Rail Offering going to: Native American Ministries

May 12- Worship Service - Mother’s Day

May 19- Worship Service - Heritage Sunday

May 26- Memorial Sunday

Our special offering being collected May 5, allows Native Americans to encounter, worship and serve Jesus. When you support Native American Ministries Sunday, you equip pastors, congregations and seminary students who will honor and celebrate Native American culture in their ministries and authentically worship and serve Jesus. This work and hundreds of other ministries are possible because you give above and beyond your normal offering.

On Palm Sunday an Easter egg Hunt was held after the worship service. Approximately 14 children participated in the fun. Children present also enjoyed our special hippy happy Easter Bunny visit who handed out stuffed animals. The hit of the day besides the bunny was the breaking of confetti eggs over adults and each other. Visit our Facebook page to see the pictures.

Please continue to excuse our mess as construction is ongoing at the church. We are trying to keep walkways, playground and church grounds clear of debris. If you would like assistance getting in and out of the church, please let us know so we can have someone walk with you to and from your car.

Our sick and homebound friends include Sue Kolojaco, Lawrence Lieder, Dorothy
