As most of you know by now, Derek and Melissa Darst are dissolving Mission Reclaimed and turning the food pantry back over to Anderson Baptist Church. Words cannot express the gratitude I have for this couple and their family and the assets they brought to our tiny town. When they moved here approximately four years ago, I have no doubt that they had no idea where moving to Anderson would lead them. It didn’t take them long to find out though. As mayor, I would like to personally thank Derek and Melissa for the “labor of love” they have bestowed on this town and wish them well in their future endeavors.
•The St. Joseph Altar Society will hold their annual stew supper Thursday, March 14, at their parish hall in Stoneham. The ladies of the altar society cook up “one mean pot of stew” like you’ve never had before. And don’t forget about those homemade desserts that are to die for. Celebrating St. Joseph’s Feast Day, a Mass will begin that evening at 5:30 p.m. The supper will start approximately 6 p.m. As well as the stew supper, a small live auction and a raffle will accompany the event. The cost will be $10 for adults and $5 for children 12 and under.
•The Anderson Knights of Columbus will hold a fish fry beginning at 5 p.m. Friday, March 15, at the KC Hall in Anderson. This deliciously fried fish with all the trimmings will cost $12 per plate.
•Clean-up day for the town of Anderson is set for 8 a.m. until 1 p.m. Saturday, March 30. A dumpster will be placed at the corner of FM 1774 and Main St. Start preparing to do some spring cleanup around your place and take advantage of this dumpster right at your fingertips!
