There was a wedding held at Evergreen Baptist Church Saturday, Jan. 1. for Tammy Williams and Anthony Tony Montoya. The ceremony was performed by Deacon Edward Costello, a member of the church. The church was filled with family members and friends. Following the ceremony, a meal was served at the Keith Community Center. A tent was set up in the yard for the crowd overflow. There was also an outdoor dance floor set up. A meal of chili and pulled pork sandwiches were served. A good time was enjoyed by all present.

A New Year’s Eve party was held at the home of Mac and Laura McBride Friday, Dec. 31. All sorts of good food was served to approximately 30 or more family members and friends. Of course, blackeyed peas and cabbage, that are said to be good luck in the new year, were also served. A good time was enjoyed by all present.

The first Sunday, Jan. 2, at Evergreen Baptist Church was certainly a cold and windy day. Church attendance was down due to several members sick or not feeling well. It was different from the day before. Jut be patient because in a few days it will be nice again. I am sure attendance at other churches was down as well.

Orphans Friend Masonic Lodge No 17 held their first meeting at their lodge hall in Anderson Monday, Jan. 3, with a good number in attendance. Those present enjoyed a meal of chili. This was followed by their business meeting where a variety of business was discussed including possible fundraisers. No decisions were made at this time.

Bedias Masonic Lodge No 651 held their monthly meeting Tuesday, Jan. 4, at their lodge hall with a good number attending. There were several members out sick, so they were prayed for. Several visitors also attended. The covered dish meal was enjoyed by all present. The lodge meeting followed.
