The Navasota Watercolor Class invites all to join them at its annual spring exhibition entitled “The Artful Spring” Thursday, May 23, from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the Bluebonnet Room at the Navasota Center, 101 Stadium Drive in Navasota.

All 11 members of the class will have their works on display and available for purchase. This year commemorates the 13th year of the watercolor class formerly known as “Jeneane Ismert’s Watercolor Class.” The art show is free, open to the public, and light refreshments will be served and door prizes given away.

Artists will work on some of their paintings during the show demonstrating the skills and techniques involved to produce watercolor paintings.

Eleven class members including Kathy Beddingfield, Renae Cassandra Burks, Bobby Condon, Pat Cozby, Kippy Farr, Sheryl Gilbert, Renee Monroe, Caleb Shead, Jill Shead, and Lily Pearl Shead will have multiple pieces on display.

Local artist Kippy Farr said the class that is held every Thursday from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Navasota Center is free to the public and the city of Navasota allows the use of the facility for the class.

“This class is important for us to meet and paint together,” explained Farr. “It’s hard for each of us to make time to paint at home due to all the distractions of daily life including chores, errands and many other distractions.”

Farr said they feed off each other in this type of setting learning different techniques, finding different inspirations and socializing while creating artwork.

Art enthusiast of all ages attend the class and currently the ages range from nine to

76.

There will also be an art activity station set up for young visitors where they can have a hands-on experience creating artwork of their own.

Farr who has experience planning art shows is going the extra-mile to ensure this is a show that will have the flare of major art shows. She has put together portfolios for the artists and will have portfolios on hand for attendees to use as they navigate through the exhibits.

Portfolios include a bio of the artists, list of their works and pricing if anyone is interested in purchasing a piece they see.

Anyone seeking more information about the art show or the watercolor class are urged to contact Kippy Farr, 713-705-0525.
