Navasota Theatre Alliance, in cooperation with the city of Navasota, is pleased to announce its 9th Annual production of Lanterns and Legends.

This year’s theme is “Artists in Residence,” and will pay tribute to the artists who have made their permanent residence in Oakland Cemetery.

Tour guides will lead lantern lit tours to the gravesites of six local artists who shared their talents with others; some locally, some nationally, and some with the world. Actors, dressed in costumes of their era will portray these celebrities and tell the highlights of their artistic careers. Included in this year’s tour are artist Kathleen Blackshear and songster Mance Lipscomb who will be played by his grandson, Jimmy Lipscomb.

Patrons are advised to wear comfortable walking shoes, use insect repellent, and bring a flashlight. It is recommended to wear a mask or face shield, especially when the group stops to talk to a “deceased” artist.

This educational and entertaining adult event will be held Oct. 21 - 23. Tours will leave the entry gate of the cemetery beginning at 6:30 pm with new tours leaving every 15 minutes until 7:45 pm. Group size is limited to 15 persons. All tickets are $10 and available online, navasotatheatre.org. Click on the tickets link to purchase tickets.

This event is sponsored by Classic Rock Kitchen and Café and The Arts Council of the Brazos Valley.
