Alleged retaliation leads to multiple arrests

IOLA- Grimes County Sherriff’s Deputies responded to the 12000 Block of South Fork Lane in Iola to investigate a physical altercation involving multiple individuals.

Deputies were advised by witnesses that all parties associated in the altercation fled the scene.

According to witnesses the alleged victim had been brought to the pasture and beaten intensively with firearms and at one point a knife was placed to his throat and his life threatened. The victim was also stripped of his clothing, forcibly placed into a vehicle and transported from the scene.

Investigators were immediately notified to assist in locating the victim and the suspects.

The victim was identified and located by College Station Police Department detectives who notified Grimes County that the victim had extensive head injuries.

The suspects were located Tuesday, May 21, in northeast Houston with the assistance of the Houston Police Department Field Investigations Unit and were subsequently arrested.

According to the suspects the beating stemmed from a previous incident.

During the interview process one of the suspects stated the victim had burglarized his home in College Station a week before. Contact was made via social media to set up a narcotics purchase. The victim arrived at the apartment where the suspect who contacted the victim and other suspects were awaiting the victim’s arrival.

According to Grimes County Investigator Kin-dale Pittman, the victim was forcibly placed into a vehicle and driven to Io-la where the suspects demanded information from the victim of the stolen property and proceeded to beat the victim.

Four suspects were arrested and charged. Carl Ray Holmes Jr., 22, of Bryan is charged with aggravated robbery, first-degree felony; aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, second-degree felony; engaging in organized criminal activity, first-felony; and unlawful restraint exposed with serious bodily injury, third-degree felony.

Sebastian Portales, 21, of Bryan is charged with aggravated robbery, first-degree felony; aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, second-degree felony; engaging in organized criminal activity, first-degree felony; and unlawful restraint exposed with serious bodily injury, third-degree felony.

Chasiti Elizabeth Clark, 21 of Iola is charged with aggravated robbery, first-degree felony; aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, second-degree felony; engaging and organized criminal activity, first-degree felony; and unlawful restraint exposed with serious bodily injury, third-degree felony.

Naomi Lynn Durfee, 18, of Livingston is charged with aggravated robbery, first-degree felony; aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, second-degree felony; engaging and organized criminal activity, first-degree felony; and unlawful restraint exposed with serious bodily injury, third-degree felony.

Portales made bail in Houston.

The case is still under further investigation.
