COVID-19 has taken a toll on many local events and the Grimes County 19th of June Association is announcing plans to its upcoming June 19th Celebration.
The 80th Juneteenth Celebration will continue with a parade that travels through historic downtown Anderson beginning at 11 a.m. Participants are encouraged to decorate vehicles, floats, etc. The Association asks that participants also adhere to social distancing guidelines as mandated by Governor Greg Abbott.
Following the parade, families are asked to disseminate to their own private destinations and have lunch with their immediate family much like the old days.
Unfortunately, due to COVID-19, the rodeo as well as the free barbeque dinner have been canceled. The Association is eying the return of those events in next year’s celebration.
