Bubba’s kids can cook!

Bubba’s kids were back and ready to fire up the barby for the Friends of Grimes County’s Youth Cook-Off Friday, Sept. 13. Of the 16 hopefuls, most were “veterans” of the annual hamburger competition, but family and friends were close by to offer instruction on testing meat temperature, flipping burgers or placing it on the hot grill safely.

For the second year in a row, the meat was provided by event sponsor Carol Garnett and each contestant went home with their own portable grill to practice for next year’s event, courtesy of FGC. For winner’s photos, see pages 10-11.
