One victim was life flighted to the hospital after a family domestic verbal argument turned violent Tuesday, Jan. 7.

At approximately 9 p.m., Navasota Police responded to the 600 block of Wades Way in Navasota following a report of gunfire. Navasota Police Chief Shawn Myatt stated, “as officers were en route, they were notified of a male shot and the suspect fleeing.”

Officers arrived on scene and found Raoul Enriquez, 46, from LaPorte suffered a gunshot wound to the chest area. Myatt stated Kevin Mock, 42, from Plantersville, was located in his vehicle a block away and in possession of a pistol. Mock was said to have suffered minor injuries.

Enriquez was air-lifted to CHI St. Joseph Hospital in Bryan in critical condition. “Investigators determined the altercation started over a family domestic verbal argument which led to a physical altercation. During the altercation Mock fired two rounds and one struck Enriquez,” stated Myatt.

Mock was transported to CHI St. Joseph Health Grimes Hospital in Navasota and then booked into the Grimes County Jail charged with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon, a Second-Degree Felony.

Enriquez’s condition has improved from critical to stable.

Mock was released from Grimes County Jail Wednesday, Jan. 8, after posting $10,000 bail.
