The Grimes County Republican Women will kick off 2020 with a “Republican 101” overview of the convention and platform process at its Jan. 21 meeting. Leading the “lunch and learn” session at Citizens State Bank will be Senate District 5 (SD 5) State Republican Executive Committee (SREC) Woman Nita Davidson.

Faith and family oriented, Nita homeschooled her now adult four children from K-12 and has been married to husband Don for 36 years. She also served as the director of Georgetown Christian Home Educators for 15 years and secretary for Texas Home Educators for three years.

Nita’s involvement with the Republican Party began 30 years ago” simply by putting out signs and handing out literature.” Her volunteer spirit catapulted her to the position of Vice-Chair of the Williamson County Republican Party where she served for 10 years, and for the last six years in her present position in the SREC where she represents Grimes County, one of 10 counties in SD 5.

Over the course of those 30 years, Nita has been involved in almost every aspect of the political process from block walking and phone banking to ballot board supervisor and testifying at legislative committee meetings.

Nita said she “looks forward to sharing the political process from precinct conventions to state conventions and why you should be involved.”

Doors open at 11 a.m. Lunch will begin at 11:30 a.m., followed by the featured speaker and the monthly business meeting. Gentlemen are also welcomed to attend. Lunch is $10 and reservations are required.
