HUNTSVILLE- A man convicted of an aggravated robbery at Dollar General in Bedias has been arrested in a separate incident in Huntsville.

Dante Owens, 21, robbed two female employees leaving Dollar General in Bedias, Jan. 13, 2017. He robbed the two ladies at gunpoint wearing dark clothing and a bandanna over his face. No one was injured but Owens made off with the lady’s purses.

A warrant was issued for his arrest and Owens was apprehended in San Antonio March 17. He was involved in a minor traffic accident and authorities arrested him on the warrant and returned him to Grimes County.

Owens was convicted and was currently serving probation in Grimes County during the time of his most recent arrest.

Authorities in Huntsville noticed a suspicious vehicle around 9 p.m. at Quick Pick in the 1000 block of MLK Dr, Sunday, July 7, 2019.

According to authorities they detected the smell of marijuana and noticed a man laying in the back seat. Authorities were given a fake name when Owens was asked to identify himself.

Officer Lucas Cowl of Huntsville PD noticed Owens missing a finger and was able to identify him as a suspect who reportedly lost his finger during an aggravated assault in March.

Owens was arrested and charged with failure to identify a fugitive, possession of drug paraphernalia and warrants for unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and a warrant for revoking his probation in Grimes County.

Owens will be extradited to Grimes County at a later date to face charges for violating his probation.
