Grimes County Officials Letters to Santa

Hi Santa,

Bert here. We met in the mall a few years back and I must be on the “good” list because you brought me what I wanted every year! I was thinking a little something different this year. I am always telling everyone around Navasota to shop local and support small business. I know your workshop is probably union, and expenses may be up, but I wanted to see if you were looking to expand. Navasota is a great place with lots of friendly folks and the city is always looking to bring in new jobs and new businesses. If you want, we can set up a meeting with the elves to discuss in more detail.

 Merry Christmas!

So Much So Close.

Love,

Bert Miller

Mayor of Navasota

Dear Santa,

It has been a great year in Grimes County, Texas, therefore asking for “more” would make me sound greedy and not thankful for what we have already received. However, Santa, as County Judge, that is not going to stop me from asking for a few more things for this land of milk and honey.

First, will you help us make sure all the hungry in Grimes County are nourished in the upcoming year.

Second, would you help us find homes for all of the pet strays that seem to find their way to Grimes County. They love it once they get here, but they still need families to love and care for them.

Third, please make sure everyone gets a trash bag or two, so things don’t get discarded along our roadways.

Fourth, with all of the upcoming projects planned for the County in 2020, such as road improvements and extensions, Courthouse renovations, the New Justice and Business Center project, continued business and subdivision development, please, please, please, put a little extra patience in everyone’s stocking.

Tell Ms. Claus hello and Rudolph hi. We are looking forward to your upcoming visit. I’ll probably be asleep as you pass through the County, but you know your way around. You have been here before.

Thanks for all you do for all of us each year.

Merry Christmas friend.

Love,

Grimes County Judge Joe Fauth III

Dear Mr. Claus,

As always, I am appreciative of whatever gifts you leave under the Christmas tree for me. Just a few things you should be aware of this year as you prepare to make your way down our nonliteral chimney. Firstly, I skipped out on the treadmill quite a lot over the past 12 months. So, if you would, please just add one size to any item of clothing you are considering. I think that would just about cover that. Another thing, and this one comes about as a result of the trouble we’ve had making our dog, Phoebe, respect her boundaries with regards to food. And so, we are discontinuing our tradition of leaving out a glass of milk and plate of cookies for you. Poor little Phoebe just can’t contain herself. However, as a replacement, you will find a small vile of an essential oil that is supposed to keep you healthy as you make your way along your many stops. Safe journey!

Sincerely,

Johnny McNally

Navasota Grimes County Chamber of Commerce Executive Director

Dear Santa,

As I reflect on the message and the meaning of Christmas and how we honor the birth of our Lord, I hope that everyone will in their own special way pay homage to the birth of Christ. The

Christmas season also brings the Santa Claus spirit into our lives with the celebrations of family gatherings and fellowship and the exchanging of gifts with each other. Watching the wonderful reactions of little children as they see what Santa brought them and the pleasure of gift exchanges that the older family and friends experience brings pleasure and heartfelt happiness to all. My wish of Santa Claus is that everyone has a Blessed and Merry Christmas and a Safe and Happy New Year.

Sincerely,

Don Sowell

Grimes County Sheriff
