A Navasota woman was injured Monday morning when her vehicle struck an 18-wheeler.

Navasota Police Chief Shawn Myatt stated an 18-wheel tanker truck was travelling southbound on Texas State Highway 6 when the driver began experiencing mechanical problems. The driver pulled over on the right side of the highway, partially in the entrance ramp south of FM 3090.

Amberly Gurka was driving a Ford Explorer travelling southbound. She entered the Highway 6 entrance ramp where she struck the rear of the 18-wheeler.

Navasota Fire Chief Jason Katkoski stated Gurka was trapped in the Explorer and firefighters worked to remove her from the vehicle.

Once removed, Gurka was stabilized then transported to CHI St. Joseph Hospital in Bryan via ambulance with non-life-threatening injuries.

Fire crews remained on scene to clean fluid from vehicles that remained on the roadway.

No citations were reported in the incident.
