McDuffie voted Anderson Mayor

Anderson has elected Karen McDuffie as the new town mayor, in the May 4 elections replacing Gail Sowell who is retiring.

Anderson also voted Harold Minor and Bessie Calhoun White as Alderman. Minor had 38.89 percent of the votes followed by White with 31.94 percent and Linda Williams failed to obtain a position with 16.67 percent of the votes.

Proposition A “the purpose of reauthorization of a ¼ of 1 percent increase in general sales and use tax expiring Sept. 30, 2019, with the town of Anderson,” passed with 63.46 percent of the votes.

ASCISD board of trustees

Hope Bay Moriarty retained the lone contested board of trustee position, No. 7, with 83.84 percent of the votes defeating challenger Joseph Thomas Phillips who finished with 16.16 percent.

Cody R. Davis position three, and Kevin L. Smith position six ran unopposed.

City of Plantersville

Plantersville mayor Karen Hale retained her position running unopposed. Four Alderman were also voted to another term and one new alderman was voted on.

Kimberly Allphin collected the majority of votes with 19.14 percent, followed by Otis Greenwood 16.17 percent, Marilyn Bet-tis 14.85 percent and Frank Dean and Kristina Keyser-Mayton with 13.53 percent each.

No other elections were held throughout the county.
