A pair of wrecks near the same location, slowed traffic on Texas State Highway 6 south of Navasota Monday afternoon. Both accidents occurred north of FM 2.

The first wreck happened before noon Monday, Jan. 6. Department of Public Safety Sergeant Alease Wilson stated a 2017 Chevrolet pickup was traveling northbound on Highway 6 when the driver swerved to miss a deer.

Wilson said the truck entered the median between the northbound and southbound lanes and hit a culvert. Navasota Fire Chief Jason Katkoski stated the truck was resting on its side and the driver was in the vehicle restrained by his seatbelt.

Katkoski said the driver was removed from the vehicle and stabilized. He was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

In a separate incident, at approximately 1:30 p.m. a driver struck the rear of a Texas Department of Texas work convey truck. Katkoski said the driver of the car was traveling northbound on Highway 6 when she struck the rear of a TxDOT blocking truck.

Both vehicles suffered minor damage. The driver of the car was treated and released on scene. No other injuries were reported.
